One type of portable pier is pictured below. It can be ordered in aluminum or steel, whatever height you want, any kind of top mounting plate etc.  This is a very simple and stable design to use. No tools are needed to assemble it either. 


 


 

If a taller pipe is needed, the turnbuckles can easily have a length of steel rod, with threaded holes in each end, added.
